Make-A-Wish granted Katie's wish to meet Anna and Elsa.  We were treated to 7 days at Give Kids The World, Disney World, and Universal Studios.  It really was a wish come true not only for Katie but for our family.  As of last week, Katie has finished 12 of 15 rounds of chemotherapy and her tumor is stable...we can see the light at the end of the tunnel!  She should be finished in July and then about 6 months after that, if her scans are clear, they will remove her port.  The remaining tumor will remain in her spinal cord for her whole life so this will continue to be something we monitor but she is doing amazingly well.  Thank you everyone for your patience with me and my family as we go through this difficult time.  I am once again accepting quilts so feel free to contact me to get on the schedule.

Couple projects past and present

These are the quilts the children helped me make for Miss Katie and Miss Cora.  They absolutely loved them!  I can't wait to make them for this Hailey and Tyler's teachers this year.
Miss Katie's quilt. The teachers cried when we gave them their quilts.  Mission accomplished!
This is a quilt I'm making for my niece and nephew who are expecting their second boy any day now.  I didn't piece it but had a blast quilting along all the chevrons.

I'm just not a blogger.

So I've realized, and yes it's taken me a while to realize this, that I'm just not a great blogger.  There are so many other things that I'm great at though and when I start being hard on myself for the things I'm NOT great at, I have to remind myself of the things I AM great at. One of those things is being a mom.  I love being a mom.  I love the day to day responsibility of making sure these kiddos are happy, healthy, and thriving.  I love to see them grow and learn new things. I love the satisfaction of knowing that often times I am the one who taught them that new thing.  I love how my son buries his nose into my arm to take in my scent and when he's upset it calms him down.  I love when the baby does something cute, and she knows it, she flashes us a big toothy cheesy grin and makes us all laugh.  And I love how my oldest daughter is growing into a young lady and wants to be like me.  I absolutely love and adore my husband.  He is my rock and my best friend.  And I think, because he tells me all the time, that I'm a great wife to him. I make the world's best chocolate chip cookies.  Don't believe me?  Just ask everybody.  I'll make you some one of these days if you stop by.  In fact, my husband thinks that every finished quilt should come with some of those great cookies.  Also, I'm a great longarm quilter.  I enjoy every short minute I have to do it.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it until I'm a grandma and then I'll slightly modify it.  I'm not a great blogger but every now and then I'll stop by and update it.  Sorry to all my customers who have lost faith in my blog.  I don't promise anything for now but hopefully soon I'll be able to add it my list of things I'm great at.

Here is a quilting/sewing tip:
After you clip all those little threads put it on your shoulder, and then when it starts piling up throw the whole wad in the trash.  It keeps your work space free of threads and makes clean-up a cinch.  Happy quilting!

New Website!

My husband is lovingly creating a new website for me. Check it out and let me know what you think! There will also be a link to this blog from that site. www.machinequiltingbyholly.com

Clover Wonder Clips

I love the Clover Wonder Clips my husband bought as a Christmas gift for me! They have cut my binding time in half, literally. And I don't have to worry about getting stabbed by pins while I'm hand sewing. Love, love, love them! I tried to post a picture, many times, with no luck. So if you aren't familiar with them, do a google search. If you live the Bossier City/Shreveport area, they are sold at Fabric Boutique. Happy Binding!

Japanese Import Fabrics

Maybe it's because of the 4 1/2 years I spent in Japan, first as an AF brat and then again as a missionary, but I just love Japanese fabric.  I can't seem to get away from looking at it and longing for a stash of it... I MUST buy some and I can't believe I never did when I lived there!  I've discovered the best website and I'm about to become their newest customer.
